EVA Airways

EVA Air embraces core values that promote safe and punctual flights, friendly and professional services and innovative, efficient operations.

Constant Innovation

Evergreen Group Chairman and Founder Dr. Chang Yung-Fa established EVA Air in March 1989, lifting the impeccable transportation heritage and tradition of quality service of the older sister and container-shipping leader Evergreen Line to new heights. Within a few months, he placed orders with the Boeing Company and McDonnell Douglas for 26 aircraft at a purchase value of US $3.6 billion, quickly catching the attention of the global aviation industry. Both companies are part of the Evergreen Group.

Spreading Wings, Transforming Dreams

We have had lofty goals since EVA made its maiden flight on July 1, 1991. Now, we have a destination network that spans the globe, stretching from Asia and China to Europe, North America and Oceania and linking more than 60 cities. Our regular cross-strait China service is provided in concert with our subsidiary, UNI Air. Carefully developed alliances with major carriers worldwide extend our passenger and cargo serves even further.
In March 2012, EVA Air officially became a future member of Star Alliance. By joining the airline industry’s leading alliance, we will be able to offer our passengers access to a vast global network, seamless travel and status recognition by the other members’ frequent flyer programs.

Innovation and Attention to Detail

Embracing the Evergreen Group’s corporate culture and encouragement of innovation, challenge, and teamwork, EVA homed in on core values that include providing safe, punctual flights, friendly professional services and efficient, innovative operations. EVA led the airline industry in 1992 with the introduction of our premium economy service, named Elite Class now and emulated by other carriers. We upgraded Elite Class further with all of the latest technologies in 2005 when we added brand-new Boeing 777-300ERs to our fleet.

In 2003 when we began acquiring Airbus 330-200s and in 2005 when we began taking delivery of 777-300ERs, we rolled out Premium Laurel Class, our comfortable, technologically advanced top cabin. At the same time, we gave every passenger on these aircraft in-seat Audio/Video on Demand (AVOD) systems with movies, features, music video games, shopping, and a Short Message Service.

Starting in 2012, we began unveiling a luxurious new-generation business cabin dubbed Royal Laurel Class with five-star service and amenities that resemble other carriers’ first class. Royal Laurel Class seats are configured in a reverse herringbone, recline 180 degrees and stretch out as much as 79 inches. We designed Royal Laurel Class so that passengers can create cozy inflight cocoons for rest or work or enjoy the company of a travel companion. Each passenger environment includes thoughtful features such as electro-pneumatic lumbar supports, retractable armrests, coat hooks, space for shoe stowage and convenient seat-side tables for beverages, snacks or writing materials, all within easy reach.

We also make flying fun! In 2005 and again in 2011, EVA teamed up with Japan’s Sanrio Corp. to introduce our unique Hello Kitty Jets. Aboard these aircraft, we make every flight cheerful with Hello Kitty- themed aircraft liveries and more than 100 in-flight service items. Flights on our EVA Hello Kitty Jets are memorable experiences for our passengers from the moment they board. And again, EVA has hit a marketing home run with innovation and enthusiasm.

Making Flight Safety Our Priority

EVA uses technologically advanced flight analysis equipment such as Aircraft Condition Monitoring Systems (ACMS) and Aircraft Communications Addressing & Reporting Systems (ACARS) to track aircraft operations, engine conditions and flight performance. And we’ve equipped our new Boeing 777s with state-of-the-art Electronic Flight Bags, creating a paperless cockpit and providing even higher levels of safety, security, and efficiency.
EVA has been recognized worldwide for our flight safety since we began operating. EVA Cargo is consistently entrusted with priceless artworks from world-class museums with a special 1995 exhibit from the Louvre among them. Time after time, we are honored to be singled out as the best choice to transport precious cargo.

EVA has also been distinguished by countless awards and honors over the years. Since 2004, it has repeatedly been ranked as one of the world’s 10 safest airlines by the German aviation publication, Aero International. In 2010 and 2012, US based Travel + Leisure magazine readers voted EVA as one of the top-10 world’s best airlines. And in 2012, air travelers responding to the SKYTRAX 2012 World Airline Awards survey voted EVA Air to have the Best Airline Staff Service in Asia.

Our Global Future

Just as EVA’s commitment to exemplary safety and service standards has earned honors, awards and recognition from domestic and international media, aviation industry groups, travel organizations and government agencies, it has paved the way for a growing service network and loyal passengers worldwide. These distinctions and our passengers tell us that our focus on safety and service quality is valued and give added meaning to our slogan, Sharing the World, Flying Together.
